These terms govern your use of Talorie and talorie.app. By creating an account or using Talorie, you agree to these terms and acknowledge the privacy policy. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
1. Eligibility and accounts
You must be at least 18 years old and legally able to enter into these terms. You must provide accurate account information, keep your credentials confidential and promptly tell us if you suspect unauthorised access. You are responsible for activity performed through your account.
2. What Talorie provides
Talorie is a food and nutrition tracking service. It can search and store food products, import product data, extract information from label photographs, calculate nutrients, convert quantities, save reusable dishes and allow optional sharing within clubs. Features may evolve over time.
3. Not medical advice
Talorie is provided for general informational and personal tracking purposes. It is not a healthcare provider, medical device, diagnostic service or substitute for professional advice. Do not use Talorie to diagnose, treat or prevent a condition, manage an emergency, or make a clinical decision.
Nutrition needs vary between people. Consult a qualified healthcare professional before making material dietary changes, especially if you are pregnant, have an allergy or eating disorder, take medication, or have a medical condition. In an emergency, contact the appropriate emergency service.
4. Nutrition and automated results
Product information may come from packaging, users, Open Food Facts, calculations or automated image recognition. These sources can be incomplete, outdated or wrong. Label scanning and unit conversion are conveniences, not guarantees. You must check important information—including allergens, serving sizes and nutrients—against current packaging or another authoritative source.
Talorie does not guarantee that a daily target is safe or appropriate for you. You remain responsible for what you eat and for decisions based on information shown by the service.
5. Your content
You retain ownership of content you submit. You confirm that you have the rights needed to submit product photographs, names, descriptions, nutritional values, dishes and other content, and that doing so does not violate law or another person's rights.
You grant Talorie a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, copy, process, adapt, display and distribute submitted content as needed to operate, secure and improve the service. For product data contributed to the global database, this licence continues after account deletion in anonymised form. You may request removal where content contains your personal data or infringes your rights.
6. Community database and moderation
User-created products are shared globally unless Talorie restricts them. Users may star and rate records. Once a record has enough ratings, Talorie may hide it from the global database if its rating indicates poor quality; it may remain accessible to its creator. We may correct, merge, reject or remove inaccurate, duplicate, unlawful or abusive content, but we are not required to review every submission.
Open Food Facts data remains subject to its applicable database and content licences. Attribution and source information may apply to reused records. See the Open Food Facts terms of use.
7. Clubs and sharing
Joining a club can make dishes and diary activity visible to other members when the relevant profile settings are enabled. You are responsible for reviewing those settings and deciding what to share. Treat other members' information respectfully and do not copy, disclose or misuse it outside the purpose of the club.
Club owners and members are not Talorie representatives. We are not responsible for their advice, conduct or use of information you chose to share, except where applicable law provides otherwise.
8. Acceptable use
You must not:
- break the law, infringe intellectual-property or privacy rights, or submit content you do not have permission to use;
- upload malicious code, attempt unauthorised access, evade security or moderation, or disrupt the service;
- scrape, bulk-download or commercially exploit Talorie except through a method we expressly permit;
- impersonate another person, create deceptive records, manipulate ratings, harass club members or use Talorie to send spam;
- submit private medical records, identity documents or unrelated sensitive information through label scanning; or
- use automated results as medical advice or in clinical practice.
9. Third-party services
Talorie relies on services supplied by Amazon Web Services, Google and Open Food Facts. Optional Google sign-in is governed by your relationship with Google. Third-party services and data can change, become unavailable or be governed by their own terms. Talorie is not responsible for third-party services beyond obligations that cannot lawfully be excluded.
10. Suspension and termination
You may stop using Talorie at any time and may request account deletion by emailing info@talorie.app. We may restrict or terminate access when reasonably necessary to protect users or infrastructure, respond to legal requirements, investigate misuse, or enforce these terms. Where appropriate, we will provide notice and an opportunity to resolve the issue.
11. Availability and changes
We aim to operate Talorie reliably, but do not promise uninterrupted or error-free availability. Maintenance, security events, provider failures or changes may interrupt features. We may add, change or discontinue features. If a change materially reduces a paid service, any additional rights will be described with that service.
12. Disclaimers
To the extent permitted by law, Talorie is provided “as is” and “as available”. We do not make warranties about nutritional accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose, availability, or content supplied by users or third parties. Nothing in these terms excludes statutory consumer rights or any warranty that cannot legally be excluded.
13. Liability
To the extent permitted by law, Talorie is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, loss caused by inaccurate user or third-party product information, or decisions made in reliance on nutrition calculations or automated extraction. Nothing excludes or limits liability where doing so would be unlawful, including liability for intent, gross negligence, death or personal injury where applicable.
14. Applicable law and disputes
These terms are governed by Dutch law, without depriving consumers of mandatory protections available in their country of residence. The courts of the Netherlands have jurisdiction, except where mandatory consumer law allows you to bring proceedings elsewhere. Please contact us first so we can try to resolve a concern informally.
15. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms when the service, law or our practices change. The revised terms will be published here with a new effective date. We will give reasonable additional notice of material changes where required. Continued use after the effective date means the revised terms apply.
16. Contact
Questions, complaints and legal notices can be sent to info@talorie.app.
